Food Network visits Finger Lakes Bed and Breakfast

It was a beautiful night to host a party for the casting director of the Food Network TV Station. Our very own catering chef for our special events from Simply Red Lakeside Bistro, Sam Izzo, was casted to be on Chopped. It is the show with secret ingredients in a basket and the chefs have to make 3 courses and the last one standing wins.

The casting director came to the Finger Lakes Region of NY to see what all of the hoopla was all about after meeting Sam. She was introduced to wine makers, chefs, artists, winery owners, organic farmers raising pigs, fruits and vegetables. It was a feast of wonderful cheeses, chocolates, sausages, fresh salads and fruits. All of the wineries brought out the reserve wines to show off to the director. We even had some local musical talent who now proclaims our Potter House porch to be the best "Pickin Porch"! Our guests also joined us for the festivities and one of them even played with the band using a composting bucket and two wooden spoons.

Congrats to Sam and good luck in the competition!

Finger Lakes Bed and Breakfast Saying Bon Voyage to their Daughter

Most of my guests have watched my family grow over the 16 years I have been in business. The Inn at Gothic Eves started with a family of 3, with me, my then husband and Anna at 2 1/2 years old at the time (as a graduate on left).  After the first year of business, we had Rachel (on the right).

I started this business to stay home and raise my children and now my oldest daughter is leaving the nest.

Many Bed and Breakfast owners and community members thought I was crazy to raise children in an Inn. They thought I could never do this well. At times, I questioned my sanity as well.  I know that I have raised a mature, caring, socially aware, courageous and independent daughter. She is going to Thailand on a Rotary Student Exchange Program, is an artist, and she has a blog to follow her journey for the entire year. It is a photo blog with quotes but lots of beautiful images to share with you.

I will miss her and wish her all the best.  As far as the business, read the reviews on Trip Advisor from my guests and decide for yourself.
